Tech details: 3 mins exposure @ ISO 640 & f 5.6, post processing = heavy noise reduction and some sharpening
About the shot: this is was shot in a place called Ras Abu Galum (Sinai, Egypt) where I was camping overnight. Where did the light and colors come from?!! this bright light on the horizon to the left side come from a near by city of Dahab, the light illuminating the rocky hills came from a yacht that was staying overnight and the guys there were doing night diving so they had big bright lights to illuminate the water for the divers and of course it illuminated my shot , seriously, no way this shot could come out that way except for these fellow divers, it was so dark out there and there was even no moon.
Whats this white line on the upper right?!! well like you guys i was surprised by it when i saw the shot on my big screen when i came back home, so, I assume that this is a shooting star!!, honestly i was not looking up..... you can imagine how bored i was after may be 10 trials of long exposure , it was sooo dark there that i could hardly see anything in my view finder to compose the shot thats why i had to repeat it lots of times beside the trials i did to get a proper exposure, so i was just sitting beside the tripod and smoking a cigarette and looking back at my friends around the fire having fun
That white band in the sky on the other side is the milky way.
Ok, the sky that night at this place was like nothing i ever saw, it was the best scene i ever saw in my life, i was so amazed and overwhelmed.... the sky was scattered with so much stars and you can see the constellations and galaxies so clearly.... lying under this sky in this tranquil place listening to the sound of the sea and feeling the gentle breeze, it gave me an amazing feeling of serenity and satisfaction that no words can describe, then i plugged in my head phones and listened to some chill music with the sound of the sea in the back ground ..... what other moment can be more perfect to some chilling ambient music
Gorgeous shot! I have featured this image in my group #PhotographsOfNature. We would love to have you join the group and share more of your images. Hope to see you there!
