Description

White Desert National Park (Egypt), one of the most amazing places I have seen so far, the unique geological forms of the rocks and their snow white color, scattered over a vast landscape gives you a feeling that you are in a different world or some new dimension. The rocks are made of calcium carbonate (chalk) thats was forged by the wind and the erosions of the prehistorical sea that existed there.

The white desert itself is located in Egypt within the western desert or the Libyan desert as it is also called, as it is shared by both Egypt and Libya, along this desert lies many springs, around which Bedouin people settled, and formed little isolated societies, together with some agricultural activities, hence they are called oasis, the most famous is called Siwa, which is the most northern, below it lies many others, the white desert is located between the Baharya and Farafra oasis.

Travelling along these oases is a great adventure and a great cultural experience. The greatest adventure or safari (which I definitely plan to try one day! ) is the one that starts south from Abu Simbel temple near Luxor and head north up to Siwa oasis, going along all the oasis, taking around 7-10 days off road desert travelling.

About the shot, we were camping in this place, the guide took us to some plain valley first coz there was a near by camp, so that we don't feel lonely but of course I did not go with that, I asked him to take us to some place with big tall rocks, he looked at me like "what the hell does he what" so we kept going around and around, and no one understood why am I doing this, till we arrived at this place and I said "yesss" :evillaugh: this is the rock I was looking for, my friends were very angry with me coz there was some "hot chicks" in the other camp!! but I guess when they see this shot they will know it was worth it.

Ok, part 2 of the story, I was actually planning for a night shot with star trails, but it was a FULLL moon night, it was a "no way" for capturing stars :|. I was disappointed also coz I was dreaming of lying under the starry sky, anyway, it wasn't so bad with the moon, it was illuminating the place very nicely so you can see the rocks and hills around us all night. I tried few trials with night photography but it was all in vain, so in the end I gave up and did some silly light painting shots with my friends  , they were stunned by the idea hehe, it was fun.

Part 3, one of my friends tunred to be a chicken like hell, it was his first time to camp in the middle of no where and he was scared a little bit first, then it got really worse after we saw a fox!!! he couldn't really sleep, and guess what, I was beside him, so, every while he shake me and say "hey are you awake?" I say "NOO" :ignore:, he keeps going "there is something moving there" "I hear some noise".... etc... so I nearly did not sleep :bored:. I was actually planing to wake up just before sunrise, but because of my dear friend I was awake earlier and was able to capture this beautiful dawn light :)
There was little light still, but its a long exposure as you can see, and I used my torchlight for giving more brilliance to the rocks in the foreground.... thanks for reading!!
